One of the first and most important parts of building a successful marketing campaign is knowing your audience. The best way to do this is to develop a buyer persona. A buyer persona is a fictional characterized version of your ideal customer. When you understand your customer’s goals and needs, you will know how to market to them. This in turn will lead to more sales for your business!

So, how do you develop this persona?

The best way to do this is to interview your current customers and come up with common factors that they all possess. You can develop a quick survey to hand out, mail out or email out to gather the information. You will want to look at age, background, job title, personality traits

Some questions you can ask:

  • What do you do for a living?
  • What are your hobbies?
  • What is your typical day like?
  • What is your family life like?
  • Describe your educational background
  • What skills are required for your job?
  • And anything else you can think of that would pertain to your company.

Developing an effective buyer persona will save you time and help you market to the right target customers in the right way. You will see less customer turn-over and more leads that turn into buyers.
